PSI Bulletin: June 22

No. 5/22 SUBSCRIBER EDITION: WORLD POTATO CONGRESS SPECIAL

Thank you very much for your interest in Synopsis, the recently-launched monthly publication by Potato Storage Insight Ltd bringing you news, technical information and developments in all things potato storage.

May has been another busy month for many store managers as ambient stores have started to come to the end of their period of use. With stocks in storage at higher levels than normal, some suppliers are considering options for carrying over supplies into the late summer/autumn, especially if refrigeration is available.

That said, some stocks at warmer sites have started to show the limitations of the sprout control options available in the post-CIPC era. Read more in our storage notes for June below.

You can get full access to our bulletin Synopsis by following the subscriber links on the PSI website.

PSI attended the World Potato Congress in Dublin at the end of May, with Adrian Cunnington invited to speak in the session on storage.

The event was hosted by the Irish Potato Federation and held at the Royal Dublin Society. The organising team received significant input from various Irish state agencies including the Irish Dept of Agriculture, Food & the Marine; Bord Bia (the Irish Food Board) and Teagasc (the Irish Agriculture & Food Development Authority).

Here’s a run-down on some of the storage exhibitors and presentations at the event, attended by around 800 potato industry personnel from across the world.
